2013 WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

The ShelfLife Grocery Retail Awards in Management were presented in Dublin on June 6th

Cork native, Ger Coughlan has been named as the National Retail Manager of the Year 2013.

Ger from Blackrock in Cork, manages three Maxol/Mace sites in Skehard Road, Ballincollig and Carrigaline for owner Donal Spillane. Fifty people are employed over the three outlets. Ger has a retail career spanning 27 years, working for Quinnsworth/Tesco for twenty years before taking up his current position seven years ago. Ger is married to Eileen and they have three children.

The GRAMs, now in its eighth year, is the first and only national management awards scheme devoted exclusively to recognising the best managers in the Irish retail, wholesale and off-licence sectors. The Awards are sponsored by The Irish Daily Mail, PostPoint and Cuisine de France.

In organising the awards, ShelfLife in conjunction with Excel Recruitment, set down a clear list of objectives. These are: to acknowledge and reward excellence in Irish grocery and drink retail management; to include symbol, multiple, independent, forecourt and off-licence sectors; to upgrade the standard of customer service and to increase the service competitiveness of Ireland’s retail industry through excellence in management; and to set role models for their retail colleagues, thus motivating and promoting the importance of quality management within the Irish retail grocery industry.
